The aluminum part
Each diode lives in a channel, not clipped to a gutter. That channel hides the hardware and aims the output. It gets matched to the color of your trim or fascia before it goes up, so the daytime house does not change.
The control question
The lights are individually controllable, which is what makes patterns possible. That is the difference between a single color across the whole house and something that can alternate, chase or fade.
